Why in hypnosis hypnotist, the hypnotist has you countdown and what are the effects of counting down?

it helps you to concentrate and clear your mind. doubt can actually effect hypnosis so if you are focusing on counting backwards you arn't thinking "oh this dude is such a foney.." etc.
